Ferne Marie Peters 
Services: Mon., Jan. 23, 10:00 a.m. 

Ferne Peters was born January 12, 1932, in Oklahoma, to Alvie and Iva Slusser. 
She passed away on January 17, 2006. Her family moved to the Lamont area in 
1942. Ferne attended Kern Union High School and Bakersfield College. She 
married Tony Peters in 1948, and the couple had two children. Ferne began her 
career with the United States Postal Service in 1957, working as a clerk, 
carrier, and finally as a supervisor. She retired in 1992, and spent her 
retirement years enjoying her grandchildren and their many activities. She was 
a longtime member of, and Sunday School teacher for, the Lakeview Baptist 
Church. Ferne was preceded in death by her parents. In addition to Tony, she 
is survived by her brother, Wayne Slusser and his wife, Barbara; son, Anthony 
and his wife, Vickie; daughter, Gail Villalovos and her husband, Richard; and 
grandchildren, Chad Peters and wife, Stephanie, Justin Peters and wife, 
Barbara, and Nicholas, Danielle and Kristian Villalovos. Graveside services 
will be held Monday, January 23, 10:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park. No 
visitation is scheduled. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the 
Lakeview Baptist Church Building Fund. P.O. Box 20099, Bakersfield, CA 93390.
