Pastor Danny Scott will officiate and interment will follow. Boyce Peterson was born March 14, 1923, in Hermleigh, Texas to George and Margaret Peterson. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corp in 1942 and served in World War II in the European Theater earning 4 Bronze Battle Stars. He was honorably discharged in 1945 as a Corporal. After his discharge, he married Geneva Katherine Withers December 1, 1945, in Colorado City, Texas. They honeymooned in California and eventually settled in Wasco. He worked in farming and as an airplane mechanic for a short while before operating his own business, Petersons Shell Service, Garage, Sporting Goods and Auto Parts on the corner of Poso & Highway 43. He retired in 1974 after 27 years. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying, traveling throughout the U.S. and was considered the family historian due to his love of photography. He was a member of the American Legion, and Wasco Veterans of Foreign War, serving as Past Post Commander. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Geneva Peterson of Wasco; 2 daughters, Bonnie Simpson and husband, Lloyd of Dustin Acres and Sandra Soles and husband, Stuart of Bakersfield; 3 grandchildren, Kimberly Caudle and husband, Rick and their children, Tory, Chris, Katherine and Rainey, Derek Simpson and wife, Melissa and their children, Karlee, Derek and Dustin and Leslie Thompson and husband, Bobby and their children, Kyrstee and Kaden; 2 brothers, Joe Pete Peterson of Bakersfield, Max Peterson of Texas; 3 sisters, Janie Stevenson of San Leandro, Patsy Brandt of Santa Maria and Barbara Perry of Bakersfield; and many other loving family members and friends. His parents, 4 brothers, Conway, Thomas, Carl and Gerald and 1 sister, Georgia Davidson, preceded him in death. Donations may be made in his name to the Rheumatoid Arthritis National Research Foundation, 200 Oceangate, Suite 440, Long Beach, California 90802 in his name.
