He was born in Kenton, Ohio on March 27, 1944 to Reverend Dwight Gilbert Plymire and Karis Lucille Lietzman Plymire. Since his father was a minister, Philip lived in several sates including Ohio, Arizona and California. He met his beloved wife and best friend, Judy Hauck, at Pasadena College (now Point Loma Nazarene University.) They were married for 34 years. He served two years in the military in 1967 and 1968. He served the Lord in several Nazarene churches and for almost 20 years at Christian Life Assembly in Tehachapi where he was the church treasurer for many years. He worked as a correctional officer and counselor with the California Department of Corrections for 23 years. Twenty years were spent at CCI and three at Wasco State Prison. Phil was a quiet and humble man who had much wisdom. He chose not to compromise his faith or his values and loved the Lord with all of his heart. Phil was due to retire Dec. 26, but the Lord in His sovereign wisdom chose to take him to a far more wonderful retirement in heaven. Phil leaves behind his wife, Judith Elaine Hauck Plymire; his daughter, Charlotte Ann Plymire Best of Yreka; his son, Bradley Philip Plymire of Bakersfield; his sisters, Rachel Buckmaster of Nampa, Idaho and Ruth Watson of Locust Grove, Va.; and three grandchildren. He also leaves behind many friends. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. at the Country Oaks Baptist Church. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
