He moved with his parents and older brother to Bakersfield in 1924, living there all but two years of his life as a dairyman and farmer. He attended Norris and Beardsley Elementary Schools and Bakersfield High School. During those years he was active in FFA and was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Northwest Christian College in Eugene, Oregon in 1937. It was at college that he met and married his wife, Dorothy, and returned back to Bakersfield upon graduating to continue farming. After selling the farm, he became head of the maintenance and security at the Valley Plaza Mall while also working part-time doing refrigeration repair. Even after retirement, he was known as the fix-it man, laboring for hours in his shop making gifts and treasures for family and friends and doing repairs. He was a member and active participant in the Bakersfield First Christian Church nearly all of his life. He was loved by all generations of his family and would do anything for anyone in need. Quoting from a grandson; Grandpa was the most Christlike man I have ever known. His sense of humor, integrity, wisdom, and love for all people and animals will remain in all of our hearts forever. He is survived by wife of 68 years, Dorothy of Visalia; two daughters, Marcia Moore and husband, Keith of Visalia, Meredith Johnson of Morro Bay; son, Murray Pryor and wife, Pam of Bakersfield; son-in-law Roger Johnson and wife, Ann of Visalia; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice or Handclasp (Thailand mission Project) to First Christian Church, 1023 North Chinowth St., Visalia, CA 93291.
