She was born October 21, 1945 in San Quintin, Pangasinan, Philippines. She took nursing and graduated from Virgen Milagrosa in San Carlos, Pangasinan, Philippines. She immigrated to the United States in 1970 and worked as operating room nurse for thirty five years. She started her U. S. Career working in Philadelphia to San Diego, to Los Angeles, to Garland Texas to San Francisco and finally settled in Bakersfield where she was employed at Mercy Hospital, Bakersfield Memorial, Good Samaritan, Kern Medical Center where she retired and Mercy Hospital where she filled in after retirement. During this period of transitions she developed and accumulated a wealth of friends and families that she was very proud of. In June 8, 1974 she married Nelson De Claro who was introduced to her by a very good friend and they have been married for almost thirty one years. She is well liked and known for her cooking, generosity, friendship and compassion. She is a very caring person, good listener and most of all shes the Ate and Manang Vicky of everybody. She loves to give parties, decorates for all occasions and keep relatives and friends yearly life updates thru her Christmas bulletin. She is survived by her husband, Nelson; sons, Gerald, Patrick and Pierre; grandson, Christian; brothers, Alex and Jessie Penarejo; sisters, Mercie and Elena Penarejo, Delia Tauchen; sisters-in-law, Aurelia Penarejo and Odina De Claro; brothers-in-law, Rey De Claro, Bill Tauchen and Efren Agustin; and many nephews, nieces and relatives. A Rosary was held Thursday, May 19, at 7:00 p.m., at Greenlawn Southwest Chapel. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Philip the Apostle Church, at 7100 Stockdale Hwy., today May 20, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. After the Mass, the interment will follow at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park, located at 2739 Panama Lane, near Frwy 99. Our family wishes to thank all the wonderful friends, neighbors and Vickys co-workers who gave so much comfort and support during this difficult time through their prayers and visits to the hospital. We also would like to acknowledge the wonderful job, assistance and care Bakersfield Heart Hospital CCU Nurses extended to us and our gratitudes to Drs. Rahal, Bhambi, See Kitt and most of all to Dr. Syed Alam who cared and supported us from beginning to end. We also would like to give special thanks to Drs. Gopal and Young for their support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society in Vickys behalf.
