Pete entered the Army infantry July 23, 1942 after graduating from Delano High School. He trained at Camp Roberts and served with Merrills Marauders in China, Burma and India, winning a Presidential Citation for meritorious achievement in action. He retired from the Delano-Earlimart Irrigation District in 1988 after 34 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marion Twiford Peterson (Nim); daughters and sons-in-law Dana and Butch Wyrick, Ellen and Randy Schlake, and Jill and Elgie Lejeune; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Theresa Peterson; brother, Irvin Peterson; sister, Marilyn Burkdoll; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Military graveside services will be held Tuesday, 1:00 p.m., at North Kern District Cemetery in Delano. Additional Comments: Volunteer submission - No relation to deceased.
