Francis Woodrow "Pete" Peterson
May 20, 1921 - April 1, 2005

Francis (Pete) Peterson, lifelong resident of the Earlimart and Delano area, 
passed away early Friday morning in Delano. Pete entered the Army infantry 
July 23, 1942 after graduating from Delano High School. He trained at Camp 
Roberts and served with Merrills Marauders in China, Burma and India, winning 
a Presidential Citation for meritorious achievement in action. He retired from 
the Delano-Earlimart Irrigation District in 1988 after 34 years of service. 

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marion Twiford Peterson (Nim); 
daughters and sons-in-law Dana and Butch Wyrick, Ellen and Randy Schlake, and 
Jill and Elgie Lejeune; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Theresa Peterson; 
brother, Irvin Peterson; sister, Marilyn Burkdoll; 10 grandchildren and 9 
great-grandchildren.

Military graveside services will be held Tuesday, 1:00 p.m., at North Kern 
District Cemetery in Delano.
