Thomas L. Phillips Services: Wed., June 8, 11 a.m. Mr. Thomas L. Phillips, 75, passed away June 5, 2005 at Memorial Hospital in Bakersfield, California. There will be a viewing at 9:00 a.m., and funeral service at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, at 5500 Fruitvale Ave. Bakersfield, CA 93308. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m., at the West Side District Cemetery, located at 440 E. Cedar St. Taft, CA 93268. Thomas Lee Phillips, the eldest son of Hershel Lester and Ethel O. Phillips was born on November 8, 1929 in Taft, CA. Tom was best known for his work in the oil industry. At the height of his career he was the Vice President of Global Marine, Inc., and later became part owner of Cal-Pacific Drilling Company. His career took him around the world, where he had the privilege of working with and raising his family in many different countries. He was admired and respected by his family, friends, and employees. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Tom's memory will be cherished by his wife, M. Annette, 3 sons, Thomas, Richmond (Jana), and James (Kara) of Bakersfield, CA; the mother of his children, Ina C. Hart of Bakersfield, CA; 4 stepchildren; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 2 brothers and 2 sisters, Richard Phillips (Yvonne) of Bakersfield, CA; Harry Phillips (Jeanne) of Tehachapi, CA; Betty Clinton (Phil) of Fresno, CA and Verna Mangold (Paul) of Ontario, CA; numerous nieces and nephews. His parents, sister (Lorene) and brother (John) preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that a donation be made to the American Diabetes Association in honor of Mr. Phillips.
