Walter E. Porter 
Oct. 27, 1916 - Aug. 25, 2005 

Walter was born in Wheeler, Arkansas to Lamuel Frank and Nina Porter. Walter 
came to Bakersfield, CA in 1934. He worked for Mr. Warden in the orange 
groves, Doyle Grain Co., San Joaquin Valley Poultry Producers Assn. (PPA) and 
was a self employed cattle businessman. He married Laveta Stock in 1940. He is 
preceded in death by his parents; wife, Laveta; son, Delbert; brothers, 
Charles, Vester and wife, Opal, Garland and wife, Margaruite; sisters, Verdi 
Cripps and husband, Charley, Francis McKiney and husband, Jerry. He is 
survived by his sons, Herman and wife, Jeannette, Richard and wife, De Lynne; 
grandchildren, Teresa Andrews and husband, Orville, Kristine Hudson and 
husband, Paul, Mark Porter, Bobby Porter, Kelly Porter and Kendra Porter; 
great-grandchildren, Justin Andrews, Amy Andrews, Anna Andrews, Bradley 
Hudson, Abigail Porter and James Porter; sister-in-law, Jewel Porter and very 
special friend, Phillis Van Hyfte. Pallbearers will be Paul Hudson, Orville 
Andrews, Mark Porter, Pat Welch, Artle Porter and Harry Maddux. Honorary 
pallbearers are Ray French, Justin Andrews, Gary Cripps, Bradley Hudson, John 
Nord, Livio Palla, Frank McKiney, Clyde Pipkins, Russ Kleinhans and Raul 
Andrade. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 30th, 1-9 p.m., at Greenlawn 
Southwest, 2739 Panama Lane, Bakersfield, CA 93313. Funeral service will be 
Wednesday, August 31, 10:00 a.m., at Liberty Christian Center, 8801 So. H St., 
Bakersfield, CA 93307 Interment will follow at Greenlawn Southwest Cemetery.
