Vernon Powell 
Services: Sat., May 21, 11 a.m. 

Visitation begins at noon in the Chapel with an hour of meditation to be held 
tonight from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m., in the Jesse E. Cooley, Jr. Chapel for Vernon 
Powell, 43, who passed away May 11, 2005, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Services are 
Saturday, May 21, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., in Central Church of Christ, 425 So. H 
Street. Kevin Edwards, pastor of Rising Start Baptist Church officiating. 
Interment to follow in Union Cemetery. Vernon was born March 16, 1962, in 
Talledega, Alabama and later moved to Bakersfield with his family. He attended 
the local schools and was a member of the 4th St. Church of Christ. He has 
resided in Las Vegas, Nevada for the past five years. Vernon will be 
remembered for his smile and being happy. Survivors include his beloved wife, 
Mona Lisa; his daughter, Imani Powell; his sons, Ariany and Avery; mother, 
Clara Sumlin-Everett and stepfather, David Everett of Bakersfield; brothers, 
Tyrone Powell and Douglas Sumlin and their wives; and many cousins, loved ones 
and other relatives and friends.
