Raines March 26, 1919 - Nov. 8, 2005 Visitation will be Sunday, November 13, 2005 11 A.M.-5 P.M. and Services will be held Monday, November 14, 2005, 1:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Park for James R. Raines of Bakersfield. James R. Raines was born March 26, 1919 in Jacinto, AK. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army/Airforce; a member of the Teamsters Union and retired from Golden Bear, after many years of service as a truck driver. James enjoyed eight wonderful years of traveling the country with his wife, meeting friends along the way. He was an avid outdoorsman who always enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. James was also a competitor in the first Fuel and Gas Championship at Famoso in 1959 with his partner Chuck Oliver. James is survived by his wife Rachel Laviena Raines; son Ron Raines and wife Robbi; daughter Laviena Christian and husband Les; daughter Marlene Woodall and husband George; daughter Cindy Guinn and husband David; son Roger Raines; son Randy Raines and wife Jona; 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
