Reynolds Aug. 12, 1917 - Oct. 23, 2005 A celebration of Annabelles life will be held next April in the garden of her home, her favorite place to be and her favorite time of year. Ann was born August 12, 1917, in Hamilton, ND, where she lived with her family until leaving to attend teachers college. She became a teacher of Special Education Classes for Gifted children with Emotional problems and subsequently taught for 40 years in states from New York to California, Oregon and Hawaii. While teaching, she and her sister established the Top Drawer, a womens specialty clothing shop which they owned and operated for 30 years. Ann was not content to be a stay at home retiree and became very active in many and varied community activities. As President of the Bakersfield Soroptimist Club and volunteer and docent for the Bakersfield Museum of Art she organized bus tours of the Christo Umbrella Project, the proceeds going to fund a childrens room at the museum. She was President of the YWCA from 1984-86 and also served as Director for six months. Ann was also a Founding Member and Life Member of California Living Museum where she actively raised money for the museum by starting the Food Booth, managing it, and manning it with the help of friends on weekends for three years. In addition, she was also an active volunteer for the Fritch Eye Care Center, a member of Kern County Retired Teachers Association, California Retired Teachers Association Lifetime Membership, the National Retired Teachers Association, an active member of the Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce. Other memberships include the American Association of University Women, Bakersfield Business and Professional Women, Bakersfield Museum of Art, Eastern Star, White Shrine, and the Kern County Scottish Society, the Bakersfield Womans Club and Symphony Associates. Ann was preceded in death in 1981 by her husband, Donald J. Reynolds. She is survived by her devoted sister, Dorothy Fee; nephew, Robert and wife, Connie Fee and children, Ross and Shana of Cucamonga; niece, Mrs. Donna (Billie) Loter of Portland, OR; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend a special prayer and thank you to Dr. Jorge Enriquez, Dr. Pankaj Shukla and Mercy Home Health Care nurses for their caring help and consideration throughout these last few months of Anns life.
