Allen B. Rigler Services: Fri., Jan. 20, 1:00 p.m. Allen B. Rigler, born February 16, 1924, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2006. After graduating in 1942 from Jefferson High School in Daly City, California, he became a Navy carrier pilot and married his high school sweetheart, Lenore Ross. In World War II he flew Douglas Dauntless dive bombers off the aircraft carrier FDR, patrolling for submarines in the Atlantic, mostly between Havana and Rio de Janeiro. As a member of a team of Navy pilots he also flew numerous war bond shows. After the war and a brief career as a tile mason, Allen joined PG&E and attended the University of California, Berkeley, majoring in mathematics. He served on the Board of the Brisbane, California, School District for several years. In 1966, he transferred to Bakersfield where PG&E named him Electric Superintendent for the Kern District, a position he held until his retirement in 1986. A terrific pinochle player, he actively played golf and meticulously cared for the many plants, flowers and shrubs in his yard until his final illness. Intelligent, hard working, disciplined, unflinchingly ethical, physically and morally courageous, he is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lenore; three children and their spouses, Ross and Karen Rigler, Janet and Bob Forrester, Steve and Debbie Rigler; 5 grandchildren, Steven Rigler, Kristen Streater, Matthew Forrester, Andy Rigler, and Pat Rigler; and 2 great-grandchildren, Jessica Rigler and Clark Streater. A viewing at Hillcrest Memorial Park will take place on Thursday, January 19th from 4-8 p.m. The funeral service will be on Friday, January 20th, at 1:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
