Geraldine J. Rother Services: Thurs., Dec. 15, 1:00 p.m. I am not gone, my soul lives on but in a better place, surrounded by the light of God in all His glory and grace. The Lord took Mom home on December 8, 2005, after a lengthy illness. Chapel services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary beginning at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2005. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2005. Mom was born in Peabody, Kansas, and came to California with her family in the late 30s. She was a dedicated mother, loving and giving grandmother, and joy-filled great- grandmother. She devoted her life to her family. In the last few years, Mom got to enjoy some of the things she'd put off in her younger years. She traveled, ate out often, and slept late. Some of her greatest joys were watching the little ones enjoy Disneyland, run on the beach, or play in the park. Survivors include a special sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Ivan Thor, and her grieving children: a loving and heartbroken daughter, Cathy, Janet and Jim. Mom had a large extended family with sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren near and far, all of whom she loved dearly. Locally, she leaves a special grandson, Paul, and grieving granddaughters, Ryan and Corey; great-grandchildren, Paige, Bailey, Delaney, and Erin. There will be a huge void in our lives for a long time. We will miss her so! Many thanks to Pastor Perez for his devotion to Mom. Special thanks to the nursing staff at Memorial Hospital, One East, and Dr. Nancy McNamara whos been with us through thick and thin. Moms charity contributions were legendary! In lieu of flowers, your contribution to Niles Assembly of God Church (where she was an active member until she just couldnt go any longer but where she leaves loving church family) or a charity of your choice would make her very happy.
