Sherry Lee Roussel 
Aug. 11, 1936 - Dec. 21, 2005 

No services are scheduled. Born in St. Louis, MO raised in Culver City, Ca, 
died in Bakersfield on December 21, after a brave battle with cancer. Sherry 
was a life long auto racing fan and as a teenager babysat for Indy 500 
veterans such as Johnny McDowell, Johnnie Parsons and Cal Niday who she came 
to call her Adopted Father. Sherry married popular west coast driver and 
Bakersfield native, Rosie Roussel on Labor Day weekend, 1959. After he had won 
the 100 Lap feature at Balboa Stadium. Together they promoted and managed both 
Saugus and Bakersfield Speedways in the early 1970s After Rosie retired from 
Union Oil in 1985, They enjoyed traveling the western USA with a vintage 
racing group and vacationing mainly in San Felipe, Mexico. Rosie and Sherry 
also spent a wonderful six weeks traveling in Australia during Christmas of 
1995 hosted by many of their Aussie friends they had met though racing. Sherry 
is proceeded in death by her mother. She leaves behind her husband of 46 
years, Rosie Roussel of Bakersfield, her son Scott Roussel of Springfield, MO, 
her daughter Renee Roussel of Bakersfield, twin grandsons Robert and Justin of 
Lakeland, FL. She also leaves her extended family, stepchildren Michael and 
Denise Roussel of Bakersfield and her life long best friend, Madonna Alberts 
of Las Vegas , Nevada.
