Vernon Russell 
Services: Wed., Jan. 4, 1:00 p.m. 

Vernon Russell was born January 9, 1917 in Tennessee and passed away December 
29, 2005 in Lancaster, California. He served in WW II as a Chief Petty Officer 
in the United States Navy. For many years he was Battalion Chief for the Kern 
County Fire Dept. then went on to be the Bakersfield City Fire Dept. 
Inspector. He then opened Russell Beverage Company and worked in beverage 
distribution for 26 years until retiring in 1979. Vernon was very active in 
many organizations over the years including, member of Lancaster and 
Bakersfield American Legion and was past Vice Commander of the Bakersfield 
Legion. He also was a 32nd Mason, part of the Scottish Rite, past president of 
AV Shrine Club, past president of AV Trade Club, member of Lancaster Moose 
Lodge, Antelope Valley Rotary Club, and life member of Lancaster Elks Lodge 
B.P.O.E. 1625. He was very proud to have run for City Council when Lancaster 
was first incorporated. He is survived by son, Mark L Russell; sister, Nola 
Mae Geye of Arroyo Grande and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services 
will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2006, 1:00 p.m., at Joshua Memorial Park, 
in Lancaster, CA.
