He was an avid sportsman, spending much of his time hunting in the Monolith Mountains. He was an outstanding athlete excelling in all sports but his specialty was the mile run. While in the service, Leo had his own band that was involved in many USO shows. During his involvement in the American Legion, Leo served a tour as the post commander. He was also a member of the Tehachapi Cemetery Board for many years. Leo was actively involved in his community, very patriotic and proud to be an American. Leo was a devout parishioner and actively involved in many church activities, including but not limited to, the Knights of Columbus and Club Ideal.
