Jovela R. Mendez 
Services: Thurs., June 9, 10:00 a.m. 

Jovela R. Mendez was born on October 11, 1926, in Wellington, Texas. She 
passed away on June 4, 2005, in Bakersfield. She worked as a secretary for 30 
years and twenty for the Teamsters Union. Jovela is survived by her son, Randy 
Mendez and wife, Mary Ann of Bakersfield; daughter-in-law, Debra Mendez of 
Bakersfield; four grand-children, Rob and wife, Tanya of Redlands, Gary Jr., 
Jennifer and Gregory of Bakersfield and two great-grandchildren, Katelynn and 
Karmen of Redlands; one brother, R.F. Reeves of Cave Springs, Arkansas. She is 
preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. Mendez and son, Gary Mendez. We 
would like to give special thanks to Dot and Rolly Greek of Chula Vista, CA, 
their lifetime friends; and to the caregivers that were great help and 
support, Tammie, Lisa, Rochelle and Vickie. Services will be held Thursday, 
June 9, 2005, at Greenlawn Southwest Mortuary, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of 
flowers, donations can be made to Hoffmann Hospice.
