Sunderman Services: Sat., Aug. 20, 10:00 a.m. A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 20, 10:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Holy Cross Lawn for Mildred G. Reeves Sunderman who went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2005. Mildred was born May 23, 1913, to Jess Reeves and Carrie Busteed Reeves in Madison, Nebraska. In 1933 Mildred married Victor Sunderman. They farmed in Nebraska until 1942 when they came to California. Mildred was employed by Ralphs Market in Los Angeles until they moved to Bakersfield in 1943. She was employed by the Green Frog Market when they first opened. She took a break to raise their daughter, Vicki Sunderman Lay. She returned to the Green Frog until her retirement. The highlight of her life was her grandsons and her great-grandchildren. Mildred is survived by her nephew, Richard Remender and wife, Phyllis and family; her daughter, Vicki Sunderman Lay; grandson, David Lay and wife, Audra; great-grandchildren, Ashlynn Roberts, Lara Lay, Alyssa Roberts, Seth Lay and Sara Lay; grandson, John Lay and wife, Leah; great-grandsons, John Lay, Justin Lay, Tyson Jauch, Ryan Lay and Joshua Lay. Also very special friends, Ruby Jones and Chris Sanford. Mildred is predeceased by her husband, Victor; sister, Cleo Dittberner Pattison; sister, Dorothy Remender and husband, Harold; sister, Fern Guy. A special thanks to Odyssey Hospice for their care and support. Visitation will be Friday, 4-8 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary.
