They settled in The Dalles, Oregon area where he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in active duty during WWII in the invasion of the Philippine Islands. In 1950 he married Dolores and they moved to California, first to LA and then to Bakersfield where Alden was communications supervisor for the Southern Pacific Railroad until he retired in 1986, and Dolores was a teacher in the Panama Buena Vista School District. Together they were the proud parents of two wonderful children, son, Michael and daughter, Robin. Alden enjoyed working on and restoring cars, riding his bicycle, loved to travel in his RV and enjoyed spending time at Pismo beach. Alden was a strong wonderful family man, and being able to fix anything could always be counted on to help a friend whenever and where ever he could. He is survived by his wife, Dolores; son, Michael and wife, Kellie; daughter, Robin and husband, Chuck; and his beloved grandchildren, McKenzie and Macey Kibbee and Derrick and Jenna Richmond, who knew his as their Pops. He will always be loved and remembered by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ray. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests gifts in Aldens memory to the American Cancer Society. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 9 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m..
