Jose H. Rivas 
Services: Wed., June 8, 3:00 p.m. 

A memorial service will be conducted for Jose H. Rivas, age 75, on Wednesday, 
June 8, 2005, at 3:00 p.m., at Peters Funeral Home. Interment will be private. 
Jose H. Rivas was born September 12, 1929, to Vincent and Luisa Rivas in 
Mankato, Minnesota. He was raised in the Fresno area and served his country in 
the US Army during the Korean War. After his discharge he married Teresa 
Martinez in 1957, in Fresno, where he was employed for 25 years by Hansen 
Ranches. He came to Shafter in 1980, and was employed for 23 years by Superior 
Farms, now known as Sun World. He enjoyed watching old western movies and 
playing the slot machines. Jose was preceded in death by his daughter, 
Patricia; sisters, Aurora Martinez and Ruby Contreras; and brother, Johnny 
Rivas. He is survived by his wife, Teresa; son, Raymond of Wasco; daughters, 
Lupe Cruz of Wasco, Rosemary Camacho of Porterville, and Elizabeth and 
husband, Michael Irving of Shafter; brothers, Vincent Rivas, Jr., Manuel 
Rivas, and Jessie Rodriguez; 21 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
