Gilbert graduated from Garces Memorial High School in 1998 and earned his AA Degree from Bakersfield College. In 2000 he relocated with his parents and sister to San Marcos, CA, where he was completing his final semester at CSUSM to earn his Bachelors degree. Gilbert loved participating in sports, not only for the competition but because he enjoyed being a part of the team. He and his friend Jessie managed a 13/14 little league team and were selected to coach the All Stars. His love was baseball, and he continued to shine in the Mens Adult Baseball League, where he played with his dad and many of his closest friends. He was a member of three different softball leagues, including a coed team that he played with his girlfriend. He also played in the San Diego Flag Football League where he held several season records and was an MVP. When he wasnt playing sports he enjoyed spending time with his family, his girlfriend and hanging out with countless friends. Gilbert loved listening to music, watching movies, attending Padres games, going to concerts and traveling to the desert or lake with his friends. His dad was his favorite teammate, and he enjoyed decorating the house with his mom for the holidays. He loved the closeness and the holiday traditions of his family. Gilbert is survived by his parents, Gilbert Sr. and Liz Rojas; sister, Candi Rojas; grandparents, Vincent Sr. and Annie Rojas, Wilmer Marshall and Ruby Marshall; girlfriend, Nadia Garcia and her family; aunts and uncles, Vince Jr. and Linda Rojas, Rita and Danny Nunez, Steve and Linda Rojas, Terry Rice and Ron and Patti Marshall; Cousins, D.J., Carlton, Adrienne, Stuart, Angela, Ashlee, Sandy, Steve, Melanie, Brian, Angie and many other beloved family members and friends. Our memories of Gilbert are many and varied, full of love, and always make us smile. He was the best son, brother, boyfriend and friend imaginable. He was always there when we needed him. He lived every day to its fullest with an easy going style and a great sense of humor. His warmth and genuine caring attitude impacted everyone he came in contact with. He was a loyal friend to all. Hobe, we will miss you every day, but what you taught us about loving and caring will stay in our heart always. A viewing will be held at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary, 225 S. Broadway, in Escondido, on Tuesday, September 6, 2005, 5 p.m. 9 p.m. Services will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., at Emmanuel Faith Community Church, 639 E. Felicita Ave., Escondido, CA. A Gathering will immediately follow services at 1:30 p.m., at the Emmanuel Faith Community Church Gymnasium.
