And what a joy it has been watching you grow. Your love for the Lord, your joy and your beautiful smile made you who you are. You've grown into a loving compassionate young woman and we are so proud of you. You were always willing to help when you saw a need by sharing the love of God in word and deed. You were truly a great example of Gods love. Mandie was born on January 24, 1978 to Rolando and Valerie Romero. She is their shining star, a blessing, and joy in their lives. Although she was an only child, she grew up with her aunt Tiffany, who is six months older, as if they were sisters. She attended Highland High School where she graduated and loved being a cheerleader. She went on to marry Samuel Torres whom she loved with of all her heart. They are blessed with three sons, Jacob, her stepson whom she loved and thought of as her own. Aaron, who was her pride and joy, and Gabriel, her messenger from God who was instrumental in the discovery of her illness and went on to be with the Lord on March 31, 2005. Mandies desire was to serve the Lord with all of her heart by touching the lives of others and to be the best wife and mother to her family. She loved spending time with her family and she always made us laugh. And who could ever forget her funny faces! She also loved to eat and we could always count on her to find the best restaurants. With awesome courage and strength from the Lord she conquered Leukemia. After a hard fought battle due to complications of her treatments Mandy went home to be with the Lord on July 23, 2005. She is loved and cherished and will be missed by her mother and father, her mother and father-in-law, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews as well as many friends. But most of all by her husband, Sammy and her sons, Jacob and Aaron. A Celebration of Mandies Life will be held on Saturday, July 30, at 10:00 a.m., at Oasis Christian Center, 4240 E. Brundage Ln. Visitation will be at Basham Funeral Care on Friday, July 29, from 5-8 p.m. For additional service or floral delivery information, please contact Basham Funeral Care at 873-8200.
