He peacefully left this world on July 7, 2005, with his beloved four legged partner Little Man by his side. Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Jewell and Florence Rose and his beloved wife of 39 years, Mary Ruth Edwards Rose. Rays family moved to Shafter, CA when Ray was six weeks old. They became pioneers in the farming industry in Shafter. Buttonwillow and Edison. Ray graduated from Shafter High School in 1944. He enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve and was honorably discharged in 1946, after receiving a World War II Victory Medal and American Area Campaign Medal. Ray and brother, Willard, took over and ran the family farm in 1951 while their parents spread the Word of God. In 1975 Ray retired from farming and spent many happy days golfing with friends and family. He especially loved to take his young nephews along. Ray was well read and a historian in his own right. He was very instrumental in teaching and encouraging reading to his family. Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Robert Hatfield and daughter-in-law, Patricia; brother, Willard Rose and sister-in-law, Ellmetia; sister, Frances Jenkins and brother-in-law, Daryll; sister, Helen Holt; sister-in-laws, Johnnie Cerro, Sharon Livengood, June May and brother-in-law, Gerald; brother-in-law, Don Edwards and wife, Gwen; numerous nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Optimal Hospice for their loving care of our precious Ray, Amanda, Andrea and his Buddy, Anita, BFMC staff and Amber from Rosewood Convalescent Hospital. Ray, May the road rise to meet you May the wind be always at your back, May the sunshine warm your face, The rainfall soft upon your fields, And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
