Ramona Esparza Sanchez

July 30, 1928 — Aug. 29, 2005

Ramona Esparza was born on July 20, 1928 in Cornwall, Pa. She passed to be 
with the Lord on Aug. 29 in Bakersfield. Ramona was married on Jan. 25, 1954 
to Luis M. Sanchez, who preceded her in 2001.

Ramona was survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Teresa Sanchez 
and a daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Luis Saavedra Senior. Ramona was 
blessed with eight grandchildren: Louie Saavedra Junior, Kevin Sanchez, Marcos 
Saavedra, Isaac Saavedra, Vincent J. Saavedra, Breanna Sanchez, Gabriel J. 
Saavedra, Jonathon M. Saavedra, one very special and only great-grandchild, 
Elijah R. Saavedra and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ramona was very involved with the Church. She was a member of Templo Peniel 
for many years and always involved in every department. Anywhere from Sunday 
school teacher to women’s ministries to fundraisers. Wherever she was needed, 
she was there. She inspired a lot of people, even those she didn’t know and 
she always took that extra step to help others. Ramona was loved by everybody 
who knew her and will be greatly missed.

A funeral service was held Thursday, Sept. 1, at the Wood Family Funeral 
Service Chapel. Interment followed at the Tehachapi Public Cemetery Eastside. 
Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
