Floyd was born in Ringold, Okla., on Aug. 27, 1933 to parents Walter and Senia Seymour. He arrived in Tehachapi shortly after the 1952 earthquake and immediately began work as a first-class welding repairman at the Monolith Cement Plant, now the Lehigh Southwest Cement Company. Floyd became the oldest and longest employed person at the cement company. To note his significant employment accomplishments after 50 years of employment, the plant’s maintenance building was officially dedicated as the Seymour Building. Floyd’s career was interrupted briefly when he was drafted into the U.S. Army at the end of the Korean War. In 1969, Floyd married Betty Lawrence. Shortly thereafter, in 1975, they began their own company, Tehachapi Towing, with one truck. They now have 16 trucks in operation. Floyd is survived by his wife of 36 years, Betty Seymour of Tehachapi; sons, Glen Covert and his wife Becky of Bakersfield; Lloyd Marvin Rolin and his wife Melissa; Larry Rolin and his wife Lisa; and Leon Seymour and his wife Nanette, all of Tehachapi; daughter, Michelle Rolin Sainz and her husband Danny of Hanford; grandchildren, Sara, Andrew, Anthony, Zachary, Justin, Amanda Jo, Brittany, Eric, Savannah, Shelby, Tristin, Kaylynn, Charlie Joe and Hannah Lee; great-grandson, Nathan; and sister, Ellen Hammel of Rattan, Okla. Floyd was a loving husband, wonderful father, grandfather and dedicated employee. He was a man with many friends and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Pastor T.C. Robinson officiated at the service. Interment followed at the Tehachapi Public Cemetery, Eastside. Wood Family Funeral service handled the arrangements.
