He was preceded in death by his brothers Ruben in 1996 and Alejandro in 2003. Benjamin is survived by his wife of 52 years, Guadalupe Silva, whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his children, Gloria and husband, Jose Vega; Anna Rebecca Lomeli; Yolanda and husband, Ramon Franco; Alejandro Alex Silva; Beatriz and husband, Ryan Durick; Patricia Silva, and Carolina and husband, Miguel Celio, all of Bakersfield. He was the proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 8 great- grandchildren. Benjamin worked as a construction worker for the Local 220 Union for 15 years and Santa Fe Railroad as a Track Laborer for 13 years. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. He also loved the company of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Benjamin played Supper Lotto religiously and loved playing poker with those who were willing to lose their stakes. The family would like to thank Optimal Hospice and especially Mary and Kyle for their support and dedication in making Dad comfortable in his final days. He was a beloved Father and Grandfather, and will be greatly missed. A wake will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2005, at 6 p.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be Thursday, 2:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel. Alex Silva, Cecilio Lomeli, Joe Vega, Ryan Durick, Roman Lomeli, Richard "Ricky" Rodriguez, David Silva, and George Ortiz will lay him to rest.
