Warren died peacefully at home after a long and successful life. Warren grew up in Los Angeles and attended Fremont High School and Los Angeles City College. He graduated from Westmont College with a BA degree in 1943. He enlisted in the United States Air Corps in 1943 and received Pilot Wings at Pecos, Texas in September 1944 and was assigned to a B-24 crew. After discharge in September 1945 he attended the University of Southern California for two years and was then admitted to the University of Southern California School of Medicine. In June of 1947 he married the love of his life Anna Rogalsky. Warren graduated from medical school in 1951. He served an internship at the Santa Fe Hospital from 1951-52. On July 1, 1952 he started a residency at Kern General Hospital where he stayed for 5 years. He then served a surgical preceptor ship in Los Angeles from 1957-59. Dr. Simon opened his private practice in 1959 and was active in his surgical practice until his retirement in 1989. During his active years in medicine, he was distinguished with honors including President on the Bakersfield Memorial Hospital Staff, President of the American Cancer Society- Kern Branch, President of the Surgical Society and President of the Kern County Medical Society. In 1988 Dr. Simon was voted the Outstanding Physician Award for his outstanding service to his patients, to the medical community and to the public of Kern County. He also served on numerous Hospital and Medical Society Committees and was chairman of the Medical Society Impaired Physicians Committee. Warren had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and was able with his faith to persevere through difficult years to be able to serve on the California Physicians Diversion Committee and the California Medical Associations Physicians Confidential Line Committee. Besides Dr. Simons love for Christ, family, and his patients, he liked to fish, bicycle and garden. Dr. Simon was preceded in death by his grandson, Jeffrey Owen Townsend; and his son, Ralph Edward Simon. He will be greatly missed by his surviving family for his unconditional love and his great wit. Family includes his wife of 58 years Ann Simon; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Buck Ulhman; daughter-in- law and husband, Linda and Art Boehning; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Jeff Townsend; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Oscar Galindo; grandchildren, Jennifer and Daniel Simon, Anthony, Tim and Eric Galindo, and Katy and Deanna Townsend. Services will be held Saturday, January 28, 2006, at University Baptist Church, 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to University Baptist Churchs mission program or to your favorite charity.
