Le One married Arthur Foster on October 3, 1942, in Colfax, Louisiana and moved to McFarland, California in 1952. Le One was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of McFarland where she taught Sunday School for many years. Le One and Arthur later moved to Arroyo Grande where they shared a wonderful life together. There, she continued serving her Lord once again by teaching Sunday School. Her faith in God was evident throughout her entire life. When she lost her beloved husband in 1996 she had an opportunity to become a house Mother at Jasons Retreat, a drug and alcohol treatment facility. Le One nurtured the many girls that came through to live in her home. For many of these girls it was the first time they had ever lived in a Christian filled home. Miss Le One as the girls referred to her provided a loving home, something many of them had never experienced. She maintained peace and order in her home while never turning away an opportunity to offer a shoulder to cry on or whatever counsel was needed at any time day or night. She was greatly respected and loved by many of her girls and several stayed in contact and have achieved success in their lives due to Le Ones loving influence. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Arthur; parents, Odie and J.H. Smith; her sister, Olie Kagler and her brothers, Zane and Tracy Smith. Le One is survived by her daughter, Pat Hampton and her husband, J.R.; her son, Arthur L. Foster Jr. and his wife, Carol; grandsons, Darren and Brandon Hampton; grandchildren, Natasha Vaught, Kara Hampton, Sarah Hampton and Justin Hampton; brothers, Paul and Jim Smith of Louisiana. Le One, Mo Mo as the family loving referred to her, is deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be Thursday, October 6th, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Mish Funeral Home in Oildale. Funeral service will be Friday, October 7th, at 10:00 a.m., at the First Missionary Baptist Church, 769 3rd Street, in McFarland, CA. Published in the Bakersfield Californian on 10/5/2005.
