She accepted the Lord as her personal savior at an early age. She served faithfully at Trinity Temple C.O.G.I.C under the leadership of her father Pastor James C. Smith until 1986 Then with her husband Supt. Willie Hollins who was called to pastor Chapel of Praise C.O.G.I.C. Her husband Supt. Willie Hollins was the love of her life, her pastor, and her soul mate for the remaining years of her life. She served as first lady at Chapel of Praise C.O.G.I.C and was a mentor to many who knew her and influenced others to continue their education. Roses influence has caused many to become educators, achieve higher education, and degrees. She loved and served her church family faithfully and was truly a role model to many young people. Rose loved and adored her precious grandchildren; there was not a time when people didnt see her without one of them in tow. After receiving her BA and teaching degree from California State University, Bakersfield, Rose worked faithfully at Casa Loma Elementary School for 20 years where she loved and adored her many students. Rose was a natural teacher and teaching came naturally to her. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband Pastor Willie Hollins of 30 years, her son Julian and wife Cacie Hollins, daughter Rochelle Hollins, step-daughters Yolanda and Lisa Hollins, father Pastor James C. Smith and wife Cheryl Smith, mother Bernice Smith, brothers Arnold and Jackie Smith, sister Barbara Amey, step-sister Eboni Johnson, grandchildren Raven Miller, Mia Hollins Asia Hollins, Juliette, Julian, and Justyn Hollins nephew Derrick Amey and niece Jasmine Amey, A host of relatives, friends, and her beloved church family Chapel of Praise. A viewing and visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, October 11, 2005 from 1:00-5:00p.m. in the Chapel of Beloved Care Funeral Services, 115 18th St. The wake service will be held Tuesday evening October 11, 2005 at Trinity Temple Church of God in Christ 1028 O Street Bakersfield, CA at 7:00p.m. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday October 12, 2005 at St Johns Missionary Baptist Church, 1401 E. Brundage Ln. at 10:00a.m. Pastor, Supt. James C. Smith to Officiate. Interment to immediately follow in Greenlawn Southwest Cemetery.
