She was the daughter of Irving L. and Josephine Sprawls and was born October 19, 1928, in Clovis, New Mexico.She moved to Bakersfield, CA in her early teens where she lived for 24 years; in San Jose, CA for 23 years, in Sonora, CA for 9 years and 7 years at The Villages Gold and Country Club in San Jose, CA. She worked alongside her husband, William H. Hurley, in their Law Office in San Jose and Sonora, CA for 28 years. They were married for 43 years until he died in 1996. She was a member of many organizations in her lifetime, most recently PEO, Newcomers Club of Santa Cruz and various The Villages clubs and activities: Womens Short 9 Golf Group, Hiking Club, Computer Group, Quilting Group, and Duplicate Bridge Group.Her favorite always was being with her duplicate bridge clubs. Dorothy is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Gail Hurley of San Jose, CA, daughter and son-in-law, Mark and Leisa Richardson of Scotts Valley, CA, daughter and son-in-law, Dr. William and Dana Rhine of Menlo Park, CA; and her sister, Maxine Ryherd; and brother, I. L. Sprawls, Jr. She also leaves 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. No services are planned. Arrangements under the direction of Santa Cruz Watsonville Cremation Service.
