Lilas Effie Sargent 
April 2, 1910 - July 16, 2005 

Lilas was born April 2, 1910, in Westerville, Nebraska to Raymond Amos and 
Anna Dasher. Her mother died in 1921 and she became the mother of the family 
at the age of 11 years and could never give up the job of being a mother. She 
had a son, Darrel Sargent born on April 20, 1938, on a farm in Sargent, 
Nebraska. The Sargent family moved to California in 1941. Lilas lived in San 
Francisco, Whittier, Banning and Bakersfield. After the passing of her 
husband, Howard Sargent in 1954, she was the bread winner for her family. 
Survived by her son, Darrel and wife, Judy; and stepson, Daren Williams of 
Bakersfield, CA; and her sister, Gail Lewis of Ulysses, Kansas; numerous 
nieces and nephews. Lilas lived a good life until Dementia got the best of 
her. She died at home in Bakersfield with her family at her side. Preceded in 
death by 3 brothers and 3 sisters. A special thanks to her helper Linda and 
the wonderful staff at Hoffmann Hospice. Services are pending.
