Miller 12/8/1910 - 6/20/2005 Mrs. Elsie J. Miller died on June 20, 2005, at her home in Fresno, California. Mrs. Miller, a lifelong California resident, was born on December 8, 1910, in Fresno, and moved to Bakersfield in 1942, where she lived for 60 years. Mrs. Miller was a longtime employee of the Kern County School District, and an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Bakersfield, where she regularly volunteered and was a participant in the Dorcas circle. She also was a volunteer for the Red Cross in Bakersfield. Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Earl D. Miller; her sisters, Marie Schaeffer, Freda Flatt and Esther Hicks; and her brother, Henry Schmidt. She is survived by her son, Gary Miller of Memphis and her daughter, Laurel Miller Dove, of Connecticut and Tokyo; granddaughters, Jill Miller Seminary, Lane Sniffin Rebelo and Diana Dove; and grandsons, Guy Miller and Scott Sniffin. She also leaves 9 great- grandchildren. Services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park, in Bakersfield, on Friday, June 24, at 1:00 p.m. Remembrances to Bakersfield Chapter of the Red Cross, 239-18th St., Bakersfield, CA 93301 or St. Agnes Hospice of Fresno, CA, 1303 E.
