He was born on November 5, 1921, in Floydada, Texas, the ninth and final child of Ruby and Ralston Scott. He started college at Texas Tech but after Pearl Harbor, joined the Navy and completed his undergraduate work at Oklahoma State. As a Lieutenant he served as Radar Officer aboard the USS Goodhue in the Pacific. After the war, he married the love of his life, fellow Navy officer Ingeborg Wesemann, completed his Masters Degree at MIT, and went to work for Standard Oil as a production engineer and a mud man. He worked for Standard/Chevron for 39 years, several of those years in Saudi Arabia, retiring in 1985 in Concord, California. For the last four years he has lived in Bakersfield with his family: wife of sixty years, Ingeborg L. Scott; daughter, Gwen A. Scott; son, Robert Michael Scott and his wife, Teddie Lee Scott; his three grandchildren, Christie Scott, Erica Scott and John Scott; and his brother-in-law, Hans Wesemann. He is also survived by one brother, RC Scott of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Bob is remembered by everyone whose life he touched, as an honest, hard working man. But truly he will be remembered by his family a humorous and gifted poet, a devoted master to many cherished pets, a talented man of skill and precision, a hard working man of great endurance, a generous man with his time and his money, and a man who strived his whole life to protect, provide for and love his family. We know he would want us to send his regards to all his Chevron Retiree and Petroleum Production Pioneer buddies. Military at sea burial is planned. No public services are planned.
