Robert E. Sherrill 
11/8/1913 - 6/4/2005 

Robert E. Sherrill went to be with the Lord and Dora on June 4, 2005. Bob was 
born on November 8, 1913 to Hiram and Lucy Sherrill in Batesville, Arkansas. 
Bob was a loving dad and grandpa. Dad will be missed by all who knew him. Dad 
came to Bakersfield in 1945 after serving four years in the Army. He met his 
future wife Dora and they were married in 1945. They raised two sons and 
taught them the value of life. He worked in the Oil Industry for Tidewater Oil 
Co., and later Getty Oil Co., and retired in 1978. He leaves behind two sons, 
Terry and his wife Debbie, Bob and his wife Barbara; four grandchildren, Ami, 
Melissa, Brian and Jason, all of Bakersfield. He is also survived by a 
brother, John and his wife Lola of Arroyo Grande, and a sister Wanda and her 
husband Murray Burkhart of Bonham, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; special 
friends, Max, Rex, Bunnie and Carla. The family would like to give special 
thanks to Optimal Hospice and especially Selena Sherman, R.N. for her care of 
Dad in his final days. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Optimal 
Hospice.
