Breusing May 7, 1910 - April 23, 2005 Dorothy Jeanette Breusing, a former resident of Bakersfield, died at the Sunshine Gardens Country Home, 2518 Highway 172, in Durango, Colorado, on Saturday, April 23, 2005. Mrs. Breusing was two weeks short of her 95th birthday and died of natural causes. Mrs. Breusing was born on May 7, 1910, in Altadena, California. Her parents were William John and Susan Nullora (Shifflet) Shleppy. She had two brothers, Roy and George and one sister, Louise, all of whom preceded her in death. She had two long marriages first to Burton Edward Kraschel on April 7, 1931, and second to Carter H. Breusing on March 17, 1962. Widowed twice, only the first marriage produced a child, Shirley Darlene Kraschel (married to J.H. McInnis and residing in Durango). Her family moved to Delano in Californias San Joaquin Valley in 1915. Following her first marriage, she and her husband moved in succession to Las Vegas, Nevada (in 1934), and Bakersfield, California (in 1936). Mrs. Breusing moved to Durango (several years after the death of her second husband) and lived, initially, in Waterfall Village in the Animas Valley north of Durango. Following a stroke and two bouts with pneumonia, Mrs. Breusing moved (in 1999) into Sunshine Gardens west in Durango. Further deterioration in her health resulted in her move to the Sunshine Gardens Country Home in March 2005. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley D. McInnis (and husband, J.H. McInnis); a granddaughter, Karyl L. Horenn (and husband, Robert A. Horenn), all of Durango; a grandson, Gordon E. McInnis of Las Vegas, NV; four great- grandchildren, Karly, Connor, Jenna and Kira Horenn (children of Karyl and Robert); a nephew, Richard Slanker of Oceanside, CA; nieces, Jackie Arthur of Albuquerque, NM, Sydney Harmon of Littleton, CO, and Patsy Barton of Peoria, IL; and a number of grandnieces and grandnephews. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery, Monday, May 2, 2005, at 9:30 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army. Additional Comments: Volunteer submission - No relation to deceased.
