A Navy veteran he served in Korea as a Radarman. Milton married his wife of 48 years, Donna Kemp Sommer, in 1956; they were joined by a son, Rick, in 1958 and daughter, Terri, in 1963. Joining KCFD in 1959 he enjoyed a career as an Engineer until his retirement in 1986. Milton was an avid hunter and fisherman and an accomplished sailor. Milton passed away quietly at his home in Oxnard surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Rick and wife Debbie; daughter, Terri Westfall and husband Richard; and precious granddaughter, Jenny Sommer. Milton is also survived by a sister, Donna Lee, and a large extended family made up of relatives and friends alike. A celebration of his life will be held in Bakersfield on April 29, at the Fire Dept. Union Hall, 3615 Mt. Vernon from 2-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you have the men in your family get a PSA blood test.
