Roland Jean St Pierre, former owner of Piute Pump Company, passed away on April 3, 2005 after a long illness. Roland was born on January 11, 1943 in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada and naturalized to the United States when he was 9. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1961. He was stationed at Schilling AFB, Salina, Kansas where he met Mary. They were married on December 22, 1962. He did a tour of duty in Vietnam for 1 year, he moved his family to March AFB, California in 1966 and retired from the military in 1967. He worked as an electronic technician for 10 years before moving to Walker Basin, California in 1978 and opening Piute Pump Company in Lake Isabella. He loved being a part of the Kern River Valley and enjoyed working with all of his loyal customers. He sold his company and retired in 2004. Roland was preceded in death by his father, William St Pierre of Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada. He is survived by his wife, Mary, of 42 years; his mother, Lily; his children, David St Pierre of Riverside, Pam and Rich Vieyra of Bakersfield, Peggy Roa of Riverside (Joshuas mother); his grandchildren, Joshua Roa-St Pierre, Morgan Nicole St Pierre Vieyra (his God daughter), Richard R. Vieyra III and Tanner Roland Vieyra; his brothers, Roger St Pierre of Pascagoula, Mississippi and Alfred St Pierre and his wife, Nancy of Walker Basin, as well as many family and friends. Roland was loved by all who were fortunate enough to know him and he cherished his many friendships. We were all blessed to have him in our lives, he will truly be missed!
