Barbara Eleanor Jones 
Services: Sat., Aug. 27, 10:30 a.m. 

A memorial service will be held August 27, 10:30 a.m., at River Lakes 
Community Church, 4301 Calloway Drive for Barbara Eleanor Jones who passed 
away on August 7, 2005. Barbara was born January 6, 1920 in Oakland, CA. Her 
parents, Minnehaha and Edwin Symmes moved to Bakersfield in 1928 where Barbara 
attended Roosevelt Elementary, Emerson Junior High and Kern County Union High 
School. She attended Stephens College for two years in Columbia, Missouri and 
then attended USC, where she was president of Women Students graduating with a 
B.A. in 1943. During WWII Barbara went from college to the Navy. Her duties as 
a Naval Wave were to work in the Educational Services. She did vocational and 
educational counseling during the two years of her enlistment. Barbara was a 
member of P.E.O., Chapter HY since 1948. She was an officer in P.E.O. several 
times over the years. In 1951, she was one of the founding members of Junior 
League in Bakersfield. In 1947 Barbara married Stanley E. Jones. They were 
married for 55 years. Stan preceded her in death in 2001. Barbara is survived 
by her daughters, Susan Gindin of Denver, Colorado, Pat Hill of Bakersfield; 
son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Becky Jones also of Bakersfield; Susans 
children, Matthew, Lauren, Rebecca Gindin-Clarke, and son-in-law, Rodger 
Clarke; Pats children, Jeffrey, Teresa and Stephanie Hill; Bruce and Beckys 
children, Danny and SanJuanita, and their baby daughter, Amiliana Sikola, 
April and Chad Kane, and Amber Sikola; stepsons, Evan Rohrbough, his friend 
Susan Wood, Craig and his wife, Jane Rohrbough, their son, William, their son 
and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Erin, and their daughters, Elaine and Adelle, 
Edward and Robyn, and their son, James Edward. Barbara Will Be Greatly Missed
