He greeted his Lord and Savior face-to-face on November 3, 2005. Doug met his wife Gina in their Pre-Algebra class at Highland High School in the early 70s. It was Love at first sight he knew he had found the Love of his life, companion, soul mate, and Best Friend. Their Love grew for the next four years and they were married on the 7th day of April, 1978. Doug was an extremely hard worker and devoted his life to taking care of his wife and 2 children, but on April 29, 1991 their lifes changed in the blink of an eye when he was seriously injured in an industrial accident that took him away from his long hours away from home hauling heavy equipment and placed him in a new role of Mr. Mom a job he loved and devoted his life to. He found himself joining the PTA, he was a South High Athletic Booster Board Member for 4 years and he attended every Baseball, Football, Gymnastic and Cheerleading activity that his 2 children were involved in and planned many memorable family vacations. Doug was a simple man and simple things brought him great pleasure, like flying a kite, flying his RC planes, a walk at the lake, riding in his boat, going out to eat and being with his family, he loved Life. One of Dougs best traits is that he was so patient and never complained even when Cancer struck him in June of 2003. He endured several surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation and when we were beside ourselves with worry, he would always tell us Not to worry everything would be alright. His son Craig remembers his patience and how he took so much pride in his Family and was always willing to lend a helping hand even when he was so sick. He took pride in his trucks, hes taught me so much and Ive learned a lot from him. Love you Dad His daughter Jennas fondest memory was when she got to sit in his lap at a very young age and drive the Big Truck it was like being on top of the world and knowing in her heart she was always Daddys little girl. Miss You and Love you Forever Dad Doug is survived by his wife and soul mate of 27 years Gina, his son Craig (wife) Alison, daughter, Jenna, Father Odis, Mother Juanita, Brother Mitch (wife) Sherrie, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, Aunts, Uncles and good Friends. The Family would like to thank all of our family and friends, Dr. Steve Demeester of USC and staff, CBCC, Optimal Hospice and all who were involved in caring for our beloved Husband, Dad and Son. Thank you for all the Prayers and Support. God Bless you all.
