William (Bill) Tongate 
Services: Mon., Oct. 31, 11:00 a.m. 

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual 
Help, 124 Columbus Street, on Monday, October 31, at 11:00 a.m. for William 
(Bill) Tongate. Msgr. Michael Braun will officiate. Interment will be private. 
On October 25, 2005, with his wife and children by his side, Bill was called 
home by his Lord and Savior. Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, 
Brian; daughter, Crystal and husband, Scott Cason; grandchildren, Zachery, 
Tierce and Jarrett Cason; mother, May Tongate; brother, John Tongate; sisters, 
Marcia Bartlett, Pat Tongate and Jodie Patton and husband, Tom; nieces, 
nephews and other family members. A lifelong resident of Kern County, Bill 
attended local schools and graduated from East Bakersfield High School in 
1968. Bill worked in the railroad industry for over 30 years of which the last 
12 years were spent as the Marketing Manager for the San Joaquin Valley 
Railroad. Bill enjoyed playing golf, hunting, traveling and friendships made 
at the Elks Lodge during his 29-year membership. He also cherished spending 
time with his family and friends, especially his 3 grandchildren. His unique 
and witty personality will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Bills 
last wish was that we all make each day count. In lieu of flowers, the family 
requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice. No visitation 
is scheduled.
