Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church (1515 Baker Street) on Tuesday morning, October 18, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. Joe is preceded in death by his father, Jose Morales Torres. He is survived by his mother, Lucia Gonzalez, sister, Genevie Torres; sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Robert Borja; brother, Fernando Torres; brother and sister-in-law, Fermin and Toni Torres; brother and sister- in-law, Alberto and Valerie Torres; brother, Jesse Torres; 6 nephews; 16 nieces; 17 great-nephews; 11 great-nieces; 3 great-great-nieces as well as numerous other family members and friends. Joe was born in Mercedes, Texas and he was raised in Lamont, California. Joe was his older brother, Fermin's little man. He enjoyed fishing, shooting, playing pool and dining at Red Robin having his favorite fish n chips while sipping a Mai Tai. He also liked to go to Pow Wows and he shared a love of the Native American culture and crafts with his sister, Virginia. He was a great storyteller and entertainer and we have many fond memories of him making us laugh until we cried listening intently to one of his many stories. He still recounted fond memories of his relationship with Kathy. Some of his favorite songs were Hey Jude and Get Back from The Beatles and I Fall to Pieces from Patsy Cline.
