Florene Helen Townsend Tibbitts 
March 17, 1918 - August 24, 2005 

Florene Helen Townsend Tibbitts was born in Nashville, Kansas on March 17, 
1918, and died August 24, 2005, in Reno, Nevada. Beloved mother, grandmother, 
great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, she will be deeply missed. 
Preceded in death by her parents, Mina and Frank Townsend, brother Ferd 
Townsend, sister Vivian Louthan and husband of 54 years, Wallace L. Tibbitts; 
she is survived by her three children, Stephanie Hobbs and husband Dr. Edmund 
Hobbs, Victoria Lathon, Wally Tibbitts, Jr. and wife Kimberly, nine 
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, sister Frances McCune, numerous 
nieces and nephews, and many devoted friends. Mrs. Tibbitts was a graduate of 
Pittsburg State Teachers College, a retired school teacher and counselor who 
taught in five different states over a period of 30 years. She will be 
remembered for her loving ways, generosity & kindness to all, her beautiful 
smile and great love for her family. A memorial service will be held in 
Bakersfield, CA on September 12 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel at Calvary Bible 
Church, 48 Manor Street and interment at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery 
on September 13, at 2:00 p.m. For those desiring to Honor her life, donations 
may be sent to the Disabled American Veterans, or a charity of your choice.
