Turman Jan. 12, 1931 – Jan. 13, 2006 Holly S. Turman, long-time resident of Bear Valley Springs, passed as she lived, with grace and dignity, on Jan. 13, 2006. She was born on Jan. 12, 1931 to Timothy Morgan and Lesley Lunde Smith in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The family moved to Pasadena in 1941 where Holly graduated from Pasadena City College. Holly’s love of animals led her to become a docent the Los Angeles Zoo, where she had the privilege and fun of caring for infant gorillas and orangatans. She was also very active with Republican Women Federated and the John Birch Society. Holly served on many boards of directors and was elected to the Bear Valley Springs Association Board. Holly and her late husband, James, traveled extensively and especially loved Africa, where they met. Holly is survived by her sister, Jocelyn C. Villa of Orange; daughter, Susan V. Nobles of Roseburg, Ore.; sons, Thomas Wilson Nobles III of Trinidad; and David Timothy Nobles and his wife Lindsay of Rabat, Morocco; step-daughters, Pamela Notti and her husband Danny of Fullerton; and Sally Barret and her husband Brent of Ballwin, Mo.; grandchildren, Kathryn E. Miller and her husband Thomas of Prineville, Ore.; Pierce Morgan Kieffer of Eugene, Ore.; and Hannah Jocelyn Nobles and Iona Roberston Nobles of Rabat, Morocco; as well as many nieces and nephews. Holly will be missed by her many friends. The family would like to express their gratitude to Mary Vickery of Optimal Hospice and Father Wesley Clare for their dedicated care for Holly. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at St. Jude’s of the Mountains Episcopal Church. Father Clare will be the celebrant. In lieu of flowers, make donations in Holly’s name to either the Tehachapi Heritage League or the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association.
