Mr. Tapie passed away Friday March 11, 2005 in Chico, CA. He was 85. Born February 11, 1920 to Louis and Camilla Tapie, he graduated from Santa Barbara High School and the University of California at Santa Barbara where he played football. Following his education he served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Navigator. During his service in WWII, he was a prisoner of war in Germany. After the war he worked as a teacher and school administrator and Junior High School Counselor for the Bakersfield Unified School District. He was an avid fisherman and family man, exceptional father, grandfather and loving husband. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Tapie of Carpinteria, CA; three daughters, Donna Shultz of Reno, Carol Beck of Bakersfield and Ann Prater of Chico; grandchildren, Amanda Beck of Culver City, Ethan Beck of Bakersfield, Nikki Shultz of Reno, Trevor, David and Wesley Prater, all of Chico and one great- grandchild Korban of Reno. He was preceded in death by his first two wives, Helen Morrison and Maxine Elrod.
