Alice moved from Yazoo City, Mississippi to Los Angeles, California in 1952. She worked as a seamstress at Mayes Tailoring for six years; then she moved to Bakersfield, California in 1988 where she then worked for Barefield Tailoring for three years before retiring from sewing. Alice met, courted and later married the love of her life William H. Paul. They were married for forty-seven years. Together they raised a wonderful loving family. Alice Louise Paul is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Elvie Thompson; and sisters, Theina Shores, Ida Robertson and Bettye Paul-Williams. She leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her homegoing, her husband, William H. Paul; her son, Elton Paul and wife, Karen; her grandchildren, James, Rhiannon, Alyssa-Lynn and Maycie Paul; also Damien T. Eason, Jr.; nephews, Damien T. Eason, Sr. and Simon Paul; a niece, Krystal Maes, who were raised and cared for by Alice as if they were her own. They are all of Bakersfield, California; a brother, Charles Thompson is of Los Angeles, California; and numerous other relatives and many cherished friends. Visitation starts Friday, April 1, 2005, at 9:00 a.m. with an hour of meditation to be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Ruckers Mortuary. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 2, 2005, 9:00 a.m., at Compassion Christian Center, 1030 4th St. Pastor Martha Johnson is officiating with interment to follow at Greenlawn Southwest Cemetery.
