Titus Sept. 24, 1963 - July 15, 2005 Services: Monday, July 18, 9 a.m. Richard Titus, 41, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, July 15, 2005. His earthly remains will be interred at a graveside ceremony at Greenlawn Southwest Cemetery on Monday morning, July 18, 2005 at 9:00 A.M. Father Craig Harrison, a long-time acquaintance and family friend will officiate. Richard is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Fred and Elsie Titus of Orofino, Idaho; maternal grandfather, Don Sowa of Lewiston, Idaho and uncle, James Titus of Orofino, Idaho. Richard leaves to deeply mourn him, his dearest friend and closest companion, his twin brother, Ronald F. Titus of Bakersfield, as well as his loving and caring sisters, Barbara M. Weidinger of Bakersfield and V. Michelle Titus of Menlo Park, California. His brother-in-law, Steve Weidinger was also his special friend and fishing and hunting companion. Richard was the proud uncle of Alexandra E. Ferrari and Raquel B. Ferrari of Menlo Park, California. His maternal grandmother, Vivian Sowa of Boise, Idaho joins them as they grieve for him. His surviving aunts and uncles include, Patty Badgley of Boise, Idaho; Keith and Carol Ormond of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Darrel and Alyce Titus, Penny Titus, Glenna Skinner all of Orofino, Idaho; Robert and Carol Titus of Tehachapi, California; David and Dorothy Watt of Sandpoint, Idaho; Donald and Annie Sowa of Lakeview, Oregon as well as 20 cousins and numerous other relatives and friends. Richard was a graduate of West High School, Bakersfield Community College and California State University Bakersfield. He represented these schools as an avid and accomplished tennis player. Teaming with his brother Ronald, they won High School Valley Championships, the coveted Ojai Tennis Tournament Doubles Championship and were finalists in the Division 2 National Doubles Tennis Championships. In recent years, hunting and fishing were his favorite hobbies. Richard's employment history included, tennis pro, electrician and for the last several years he was a substitute teacher for the Bakersfield City School District. His parents, Ron and Betty Titus of Bakersfield love and miss Richard more than words can express "but they are sorrowing not, even as others who have no hope (Thessalonians 4:13-14) but know that Richard is absent from his body but is present with the Lord." (2 Corinthians 5:6-8) They are grateful for the loving friends who supported Richard and them as Richard passed into the welcoming arms and glorious presence of God. We welcome your prayers at this time and express our gratitude for each and every act of kindness and concern shown to Richard during his life on earth.
