Funeral services will be held March 31, at 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 1015 Clinton, Delano, California. Molly, as she was known by her friends and family, was born August 7, 1930, in El Paso, Texas and spent her early years growing up in Canutillo, Texas. Molly moved with her parents and her five brothers and sisters to Delano in 1947, and married Tom Torrez in 1948. After her 8th grade year, Molly worked full-time in the fields around Delano for many years eventually supervising work crews for some of the largest farms in the area until her retirement in the early 1980s. However, Molly never really retired from farming. Her retirement from corporate farms allowed her to focus full-time on the vineyard that she and Tom purchased in 1969. For the next 35 years, Molly handled accounting and payroll for the family farm, as well as performing the same duties for their labor contracting and trucking operations. When she wasnt busy preparing the payroll in her kitchen office, she could be found irrigating, tying vines and even driving a tractor. Over the years, Molly came to love the farm and the simple, tranquil life that came with it. Due to health reasons, Molly and Tom recently sold their beloved farm and moved back to Delano to be closer to family and friends. Molly was a warm, caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and friend. She touched the lives of many people in a very special way. She will be missed greatly. Molly was preceded in death by her parents, Ysauro and Teresa Salamanca. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Tom Torrez; son, Robert Torrez; daughters, Norma Torrez Serda, Mary Ann Torrez Rosario, and Linda Torrez; brothers, John Salamanca and Mario Salamanca; sisters, Mary Estopellan, Connie Morris, and Bea Chavez; grandchildren, Rob Alanis, Chris Torrez, Joi Hernandez, Naomi Torrez, Kimberly Torrez, Bobby Torrez; great-grandchildren, Julissa Torrez, Julian Christopher Torrez, Trini Martinez, Lesett Hernandez, and Annabelle Sanchez.
