Darling, 92, who passed away December 19, 2005. Pastor Bob Winter will officiate. Winifred was born in Mina, Nevada on July 30, 1913 to Queen A. and Parker D. Van Neman Sr. and soon after resided in San Luis Obispo ultimately Buttonwillow and later Bakersfield. She married Leslie Darling Jr., on October 12, 1935, in Buttonwillow, California. As a member of the First Christian Church she enjoyed singing in the choir. One of her real loves was the Kern County Mineral Society and the traveling and collecting rocks and minerals. She was a member of the Eastern Star and active in the Mended Hearts Organization for a number of years. Winifred was preceded in death by her parents, Parker Van Neman Sr., Queen and stepfather, W.E. Throckmorton; brother, Parker Van Neman Jr.; and her husband of 62 years, Leslie L. Darling Jr. She (Grandma Wini) is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gail and Shirley Darling; her granddaughters, Jennifer Kangas and husband, Keith and Jana Darling; grandson, Jeffrey Darling and wife, Kristen; great-grandchildren, Paige, Kevin, Jacob and Jeramie Kangas; Madison, Mckenna and Meagan Darling; sister-in-law, Wilma Van Neman and brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Bonnie Darling. The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Besdek for his many years of care and very special thanks to her caregivers, Diana Meza, Corraina Caudilla and Jennifer Kangas for their excellent and tireless care.
