Frank was born and raised in Fresno to Nellie and Joe Vaiarello. He established himself as an outstanding athlete in football, baseball, and track. As a halfback, he gained notoriety that led to his playing at Univ. of San Francisco and Cal State, Fresno. Frank spent summers working in Yosemite at the Ahwahnee where he hiked and climbed the many monolithes of the valley. His love for Yosemite remained with him throughout his life. Franks business career spanned 40 years in the financial services arena. He was known as an excellent operations executive that brought many bank branches into profitability. He retired from Mid State Bank in 1990. At 14 years old, Frank joined and volunteered at Fresno YMCA. His love for that organization spawned a championship handball career, and many cherished friendships. Frank received his 50-year Elk pin (BPOE) in 2004. He was also a Rotary member while at Mid State Bank. Frank was a dedicated husband and father. He and his wife, Joanne, of 53 years, have five children, Franz Vaiarello, Joan Pair, Gina Marsili, Leesa Gagos and Paul Vaiarello. They and their spouses have given them ten beautiful grand-children. As Frank would say, Buona Fortuna. Cremation has taken place, and Memorial Services will be at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, in Los Osos, on April 9th, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice Partners of the Central Coast, or to the YMCA.
