Bobryk Services: Mon., May 23, 1:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd., for Lorraine M. Bobryk. She was born Lorena Mans Vardalakos on February 8, 1925, in Joliet, IL, she was the second of three daughters of a Greek father and a Roma mother. When she turned 17, she graduated from high school and was married to Harold J. Bobryk in Tucson, Arizona. By the time she was 28, she had three children, triumphed over spinal meningitis, and had opened her own tavern in El Cajon, CA. In 1964, she moved to Ridgecrest, CA and opened another tavern, The Host. In 1974, Harold retired on disability and they moved to Orlando, FL. They moved to Bakersfield in 1987. Harold died in 1996. They had been marred for 54 years. She lived life to its fullest, with no moderation, and loved her children above all else. Lorraine liked to dance, play cards and bake. She also enjoyed reading mysteries, playing blackjack and doing crosswords in ink. In her late seventies she took a computer class to stay up with times. Up unto her death, she was surrounded by family. She passed on in the home of her eldest daughter, Sherry Spiers on May 18, 2005. Lorraine is survived by her three children, Sherry, Jim and Carol and their families. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren; 7 great- grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren and sister Marion Visconti of Tucson, AZ. No visitation is scheduled.
